What did you download?

Downloading an LLM usually means downloading its model files.

In the story, this is what makes it possible to bring an Oracle into the village. The hut needs its own copy of what gives the Oracle her abilities.

The largest part contains the billions of learned numbers called weights. Other files describe how the model is arranged, how its tokens work, and which settings it suggests.

The files can take a lot of storage. Larger models and less-compressed copies need more.

But they are not a complete chat program. Stored model files cannot run themselves.
