The Oracle has forgotten

Elara read the answer and wrote a follow-up on a fresh slip:

“How many questions should the judge ask?”

The Scribe copied the new question into his ledger. Then, as he would with any new letter, he sealed the fresh slip and gave it to the Courier.

Why send the earlier messages? The Oracle had already read them.

The Translator changed that line into numbered pieces and placed them before the Oracle.

“Questions about what?”

When the answer returned, Elara frowned. “She just told us to question the raven.”

The Scribe opened his ledger. Elara's first question and the Oracle's answer were both there.

The village had discovered something no one knew about the Oracle. She had already forgotten.
