The answer returns in pieces

The Oracle did not produce a finished sentence.

She placed one numbered piece into the Translator's hands. Then another. Then another.

The Translator changed each piece back into words. Temple Couriers carried the growing answer down the mountain:

“Hide the raven and a person behind two curtains. Let a judge exchange written questions with both.”

Back in the village, the Scribe copied the answer into his ledger beneath Elara's question.

A language model also produces its reply one token at a time. The surrounding system can send each finished piece back immediately, which is why words appear gradually in a chat. The Couriers stand for that return journey across the network.
