No one knew whether the Oracle would answer. No one knew whether she could hold a conversation. But the question was ready.

At the Scribe's desk, Elara wrote it herself.

The Scribe ran the village courier service. He copied Elara's question into his ledger, sealed her message, and handed it to a Courier.

Elara stayed in the village. The Courier carried the sealed message toward the mountain, while the Scribe kept the copy behind.

The first conversation with the Oracle had begun.
