Asking for an action

Now Tom asks:

“Create a file called shopping.txt on my computer.”

Rufus can generate an answer about the file. But Rufus cannot create it.

That is the fundamental boundary of a large language model:

It receives text, works with it as tokens, and produces new text.

The brain in the jar cannot reach through the glass and touch Tom’s computer.

Some program outside the jar must perform the action.
