Two walls, in plain words
You have just met two different problems.
A computer can get stuck because there are far too many possible paths. It can also get stuck because nobody told it something a person would assume without noticing.
A faster machine helps with the first problem for a while. It does not magically supply the missing knowledge in the second.
The early programs worked best in small worlds that people could describe clearly. Daily life is not such a world.
