A picture, one dot at a time

In a simple digital picture, the image is divided into tiny dots called pixels.

One common format describes each pixel with three numbers: how much red, green, and blue it contains. Change the numbers and the colour changes.

Put enough coloured pixels beside one another and they form a picture.

A person sees a sunset.

The computer receives a grid of numbers.
