A server is a program

In MCP, server names the program's job.

It receives MCP requests and provides capabilities. That program might run on Maya's laptop. It might run on a company's computers across the internet.

Where it runs determines how the client reaches it, which permissions matter, and who operates the machine.

It does not change the server's role in the protocol.
