The host is the AI application. A client inside it maintains one MCP connection. The server on the other end exposes capabilities and handles requests.

Servers can offer tools, resources, and prompts. The host decides how those offerings enter the model's context and when an action needs approval.

The model still writes requests and answers. Programs around it make the connection real.

The next question is physical. Where does the server program live?
