The scroll has an edge

Elara kept asking questions. The Scribe kept adding each exchange to his ledger. Before every trip, he copied the growing conversation onto a new scroll for the Courier.

Soon the copy became too long to unroll inside the Oracle's chamber.

The Scribe had to leave old lines behind, shorten them into a summary, or begin a new scroll.

Behind the story+
A real model also has a limit on how many tokens it can receive at once. That limit is its context window. The chat system decides what to include. Words left out cannot help the model answer that request.
