The chat app (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and others) takes Tom’s words:
“Hello, I’m Tom.”
It places them inside a small bundle of information called a request. Think of it as a digital document or letter.
The app also labels who wrote the message:
User: Hello, I’m Tom.
User is not something Tom typed. It is a label added by the app so the receiver knows who is speaking.
