Turn the dial yourself

Here is the dial, in your hands, with the tokens you have been reading about.

The octopus opened the ... is waiting for its next token. The model has scored its whole vocabulary as always, and the six shown are the highest, because tens of thousands of bars would tell you nothing. Each bar is the chance the model gives that token. jar is the safe favourite. ievable is the fragment that should never win.

Move the temperature and watch the bars change shape. Turn it down and one bar towers over the rest. Turn it up and they flatten toward each other, until the rare entries have a real share.

Then press pick a token a few times at each setting. Low, and you get jar nearly every time. In the middle you get jar or lid or door, which is sensible variety. High, and window starts appearing, and eventually so does ievable.

Nothing about the scores changed while you did that. Only how sharply they were turned into chances.
