Why connect gates at all?

One gate can only follow one tiny rule. Useful tasks often need several rules working together.

The simplest way to see this is to ask a circuit to compare two things and decide whether one is bigger than the other.

Use two numbers called A and B. The circuit should answer one question:

Is A bigger than B?
