All of it returns to bits

The parts have different jobs. Underneath those differences, the same foundation keeps returning.

Transistors make tiny electronic choices. Those choices become bits. Bit patterns represent instructions, letters, colours, and saved information.

An AI system uses the same foundation. Its program and the numbers it has learned are stored and processed as bits.

Later, that learned arrangement of numbers will get its own name: a model. A model is not the same thing as the program that uses it, but both still run on this machine.
