What stays when the power goes off

Storage keeps apps, photos, documents, and saved work when they are not being actively used.

Unlike RAM, storage keeps its contents when the power is off. It is usually slower to reach, but it can hold much more.

An SSD stores information by trapping tiny amounts of electrical charge in microscopic cells. A hard drive uses magnetic patterns on spinning disks.

Different physical methods. The same job: keep the information until it is needed again.
